About the Organizers

The Amazing Almonte Garage Sale is brought to life by two deeply community-minded locals: Emily Arbour and Tavis Joron — the kind of people who don’t just live here, but actively make Mississippi Mills feel like home.

Emily is a long-time local business owner and a board member of the Almonte General Hospital Fairview Manor Foundation.

Through her work with the Foundation, she’s seen firsthand that the real magic of fundraising doesn’t come from big campaigns. It comes from community.

Inspired to create a legacy third-party event that brings people together while giving back, she combined her passion with her extensive experience in event organizing to help turn this garage sale into something much bigger than just a weekend of deals.

Tavis, based in Pakenham, is the familiar voice (and level head) behind the Friends in Mississippi Mills Facebook group — a go-to hub for connection, conversation, and community support.

He’s also the kind of person who’s always got a project on the go, from his Seedling Library to other grassroots initiatives that quietly (and consistently) bring people together.

Together, Emily and Tavis are building something special. Not just an event, but a tradition rooted in generosity, sustainability, and small-town spirit. They’re both firm believers that when a community shows up, amazing things happen… and maybe a few great finds make their way home too.

In short? They’re community builders, idea people, and enthusiastic champions of making good things happen — one garage sale at a time.

Want to be part of our little team? Got an idea to make next year's sale even more successful? We'd love to hear from you.
